- I need some help. I have an amiga 500 that i want to put an external keyboard
- on. I have gotten my hands on a nice IBM clone keyboard (extended) that is
- perfect for it. What i need to know is if anyone has ever done this before
- and how? It will not work as a straight hookup as i tried the keyboard in a
- friends 2000 and it printed the wrong chars and some repetitve (it was printing
- alot of 8's as soon as i open a cli). what i would like to do is find out what
- wiring and or componets i may need then i want to make an external keyboard
- jack on the side of the 500 that the drive is on and if possible include a
- switch to shutoff my built in keyboard when using the external (yes i want to
- keep the original keyboard in place) keyboard. If someone has done this or
- knows how please E-Mail me as i dont read alot of these tech groups. I KNOW
- that an IBM keyboard CAN be used in a 500 because several companys sell adapters
- but the cheapest one i have seen is around $50 and i dont want to pay that much
- for what is probably $10 worth of parts.
-
- please E-Mail your reply I can summerize any i receive.
