  26. The 'fancy hardware', specifically, is either a Video Toaster ($2000) or 
  27. a SuperGen Genlock ($300) ... the SuperGen can be software-controlled,
  28. like the VT, but it is limited to fading video and graphics. A slideshow
  29. can be automated using amigavision (or some oter authoring software) by
  30. calling up your graphics via keypresses (or mouse clicks) and have the 
  31. SuperGen fade up your particular graphic(s) on top of incoming video 
  32. (just like CNN) :) To do this you need the authjoring software to be able 
  33. to execute DOS commands, and compile the software included with the 
  34. supergen. Mail me if you need more info!
