  11. OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM COMMODORE!!!

  13. Commodore Canada has officially announced a number of products.
  14.  
  15. - Hard Drive for CDTV expansion slot (presumably 2.5" IDE ala A600)
  16.  
  17. - DCTV upgrade card for CDTV (for CDTV video slot)
  18.  
  19. - Amiga 4000 an official product!!!  To be shown to the public at WOC
  20. Pasadena on September 12!  It ***WILL*** have the AA ChipSet!  Finally the
  21. speculation is about to end!!

  23. - AA ChipSet (as said above) officially announced.

  25. - 600HD officially announced and SHIPPING with *40* meg drive, not the 20
  26. meg the European versions have.  It will retail for $799 Suggested Canadian
  27. Retail, with street price likely to be lower in most centres (definitely so
  28. if the units start selling in quanitity).

  30. - A570 officially announced.  No word on whether it will have internal RAM
  31. and HD expansion like the UK final-revision vvrsion does (which was added
  32. at the last minute).  Officially ready to ship any time now.

  34. - A3000T/040.  Tower A3000 with '040 on a card in the CPU slot, 5 megs of
  35. RAM, and a 200 meg HD.  The '030 and '882 slots are empty.  I couldn't find
  36. out pricing, ther than to get an official comment that it would be "much
  37. better" than adding an '040 card to a normal A3000T.

  39. The A4000 and new CDTV add-ons to ship "this quarter" (read
  40. what you like into that), but I was told that it will **DEFINITELY** ship
  41. before the end of the year, come hell or high water.  If you have the dosh
  42. sitting in the bank, you WILL be able to have a AA ChipSet equipped A4000
  43. before Christmas.  These announcements were made at a local show called the
  44. Multimedia Event (hosted by Commodore and a local dealer).  I had the scoop
  45. on all of them a few days before the show, though I can't reveal my
  46. source.  And I have the scoop on one other (only slightly less official).
  47. AmigaVision 3.0 Professional!  As far as I can discern, this was not an
  48. error on my source's part though I'm trying to validate that he didn't mean
  49. to say 2.0.  Possibly this means there will be an AmigaVision 2.0
  50. 'consumer' release.

  53. In case anyone's wondering about me since I've never posted to Usenet
  54. before (the system that I've been reading Usenet off of
  55. just got write access so I haven't been able to before now), I write the
  56. rumour column for the local club newsletter (AmUsers) and people have
  57. been sending me anything that they come across for inclusion.  Anything
  58. locally known that is "spreadable" I hear about before most others.  I have
  59. only sparce contacts outside of my locale, but should any kind souls out

  69. Bandito, but it looks like I've been at the right place at the right time.
  70. Remember, this is all official other than the new AmigaVision version which
  71. is only semi-official.  In case anyone's wondering, permission to
  72. officially admit to the world about the AA ChipSet and the A4000 was JUST
  73. given prior to the show.  This may mean that it's the first official
  74. announcement anywhere,
  75. but is certainly the first in Canada that they knew of.  Sept. 12 is
  76. just around the corner....
