  27. I'm currently working on porting perl 4.0.1.7 patchlevel 33 (the most
  28. recent full distribution available). The base functionality is there and
  29. I've got it to where it passes about 70-80% of the test suite. But it
  30. still needs work...

  32. It will require 2.04 and most likely a hard disk to use effectively
  33. (because you'll want to install a set of unix work alike tools in
  34. addition to the 300K+ executable).

  36. I'm guessing 1 to 2 weeks before it's stable enough for GNR (General Net
  37. Release :^). I suppose I could do a SNBR (Special Netter Beta Release)
  38. in your case (if you run GCC 2.2.2 on your machine you can help debug!
  39. ;^) (GCC'ing perl requires *lots* of RAM, BTW. My 6Mb machine runs
  40. completely out of RAM if I try to compile it with the -O2 and 030/882
  41. switches.)  Hopefully, another 4Mb which I'll be getting RSN will be
  42. enough :^)

  44. I when it gets to the GNR level I'm going to contact Larry Wall to see
  45. if we can get the Amiga stuff into the general perl distribution. It
  46. probably won't be hard since he's generally pretty cool about this kind
  47. of stuff (plus I've heard he owns an Amiga too :^).
