- Here's two ways:

- 1) Peer into the drive through the slot. On the far left front, there are
- two vertical posts, which are switches. One detects the write-protect hole
- and the other detects the presence of the disk. Now peer on the far right
- front. If there's a post there to detect the HD hole, congratulations, you
- have an HD floppy drive.

- 2) Insert a blank HD floppy into the drive. From a shell, format the HD
- floppy (use FFS to be safe.) If the format will takes twice as long and
- the "info" command reports 1.66Mb, congratulations, you have an HD floppy
- drive.
