- First off, BYTE, which is traditionally a DOS mag, has only had very good things
- to say about the Amiga. One issue about GUIs panned the resolution limitations,
- but hailed the Amiga UIs as "clearly superior and infinitely more customizable
- than the competition". Another article on OSs (specifically the Amiga OS) raved
- about the speed and efficiency of the Exec kernal and AmigaDOS, it also was very
- complimentative about all of the IPC options available on the system.
-
- That said, none of that stuff was written by Jerry Pournelle. JP may have used
- just about every machine that ever hit the desktop, but that doesn't mean he
- has got any idea what the hell he's talking about. I don't care what you give
- hime, he'll probably still prefer 8-bit CP/M machines.
-
- One more thing, the A600 is old news, and only sold in Europe. Since CBM has
- announced the A3000T/040 and their '040 card, I'll bet dollars to donuts that's
- what he was referring to. We may luck out though, maybe CBM will suprise us all
- with some goodies that have up till now been nothing but creative rumors
