- I am looking into purchasing a hard drive for my Amiga...and I am asking for
- suggestions or reccomendations from those who have been both pleased and
- dissatisfied with their purchases.
-
- My system at the current time is relatively basic:
-
- A500 (1 Meg total, 512 K chip)
- No external floppy
- 1084S
- 1.3
- (printer and modem)
-
- I desire a relatively fast accessing hard drive. Size-wise about 52 Megs.
- I intend to put 2 Megs more of FAST ram into my system with my hard drive
- purchase. Frills (such as extra expansion ports (ala GVP)) are not a
- necessity, but are to be kept in mind. My current system, including the
- hard drive, are only a temporary fix. That is, once I can afford to
- upgrade (upon graduation this year) I will dump this system and buy a A3000
- or the A4000 (or whatever it will be called).
-
- What it all comes down to is this:
-
- I'd like any text files or personal comments on hard drives, interfaces, and
- packages that you might have available. I'm leaning toward the GVP drive
- packages right now, but if I can find a drive package with roughly the same
- features (mini expansion slot is not necessary for me) for a lower cost,
- that is the route I will go. Ideally, I'd like to use SIMMS.
-
- Reccomendations on mail order companies to avoid and those that offer the lowest
- prices would also be greatly appreciated.
-
- Thanks so much for your time!
-
- Also, please E-Mail me. The system I usually read/reply to News from is
- having difficulties...and I usually don't get on from this account.
