- Ok, here's the situation:
-
- I wanted to remove my AMAX partition from my HD and use my full 52 megs
- for AmigaDOS. So, I backed up my AmigaDOS partition and went to reformat
- the drive without the AMAX partition. I was using TCUtils 2.0, which comes
- with IVS controllers (I have a Trumpcard 500 AT). Now, after I was done,
- and some confusion, I realized that I somehow ended up with a drive
- that had two partitions: dh0: was 475k and dh1: was 48 megs. Both were
- named 'EVE' which is what my original name for my AmigaDOS partition was.
- Now, I figured out a way around the computer's confusion by dismounting DH0:
- and then reassigning it to DH1: and dismounting EVE:, thereby leaving the
- 48M Eve but eliminating the 475k Eve. Sound confusing?
-
- Well, as far as I can tell this all seems to work just fine, and I'd rather,
- for the time being, lose however much HD space I effectively have lost than
- reformat the drive and restore it again. So, here are my two questions:
-
- 1) Is there any compelling reason anyone thinks I should reformat an
- rebackup;i.e. some reason not to stick with this semi-kludge but functioning
- setup that I haven't thought of.
-
- 2) Is there any way to redefine partition parameters and/or device names
- without reformatting the drive? I imagine it could be done with a sector
- editor, and I've heard the term Rigid Disk Blocks bandied about in reference
- to this, but that's all I know. Any ideas?
-
- Thanks all --
