- I am interested in (maybe) buying the A2024 monitor, but as I
- only know a few things about it, that might be the reason... It is
- not easy to buy it in Denmark. The following is what I know, or
- think I know:
-
- The A2024 is a black and white monitor, that is quite cheap. It is
- rather old; I do not know for what purpose it was originally made.
- It gives you four shades of grey, no more, no less. You can use
- the standard amiga resolutions (320x256, 640x512, etc.), and it
- is interlace when the resolution is interlace(of course, the colours
- are mapped to the 4 gray levels, giving sometimes catastrophic results).
- The monitor is a long persistence(?) monitor, making animations
- "draw traces", but on the other hand reducing flicker in, say, interlace.
-
- The interesting part is, that you get an additional resolution of
- 1008 x 1024, in up to four shades of gray, and with _no_ interlace
- flicker. These resolutions draw hard on your amiga, and therefore
- there are two modes, 15kHz and 30kHz. What kind of flicker is introduced
- in the 15kHz mode, I know not.
-
-
- This is what I know, and believe to be true. Now the question: I have
- got the impression, that you need no additional hardware to use
- the 1000x1024 mode under 2.0 with, say, and A500+ ? Is this true,
- or do I need some kind of de-interlacer? What are the monitors dimensions,
- (14", 16", what?), and are there any other drawbacks/advantages, than
- the ones mentioned here? Are the pixels in any way viewable, or
- is it like 1400x512 on PAL(Superhires), where you _really_ go beyond
- the resolution of the display?
-
- Finally, if I get any useful/interesting replies on this, what do I do
- with the information? It seems such a waste, that I might here find
- out a lot of the things, people that've heard of the A2024 would like
- to know, and after a couple of weeks, the informations are lost again.
- There oughta be some way to "archive" the net information(a la FAQ sheets),
- where people could search and retrieve info.
-
- Have a nice day.
