- First, my set-up: B2000/Rev 4.2 motherboard/OS 2.04 ROM/2 internal 3.5
- floppies/2091 with 2 megs RAM/2052 with 2 megs RAM/52 meg Quantum and now,
- 8372a Agnus.
-
- Now the story: Ordered and received my new chubby Agnus from Briwal. No
- installation instructions. Expected that so I posted here for help and got
- some so last night, installed chubby into my system as follows:
- 1. Removed skinny Agnus using correct removal tool.
- 2. Installed chubby Agnus and verified correct orientation.
- 3. Located jumper J101 and moved jumper block 1 pin to the left.
- 4. Located jumper pad J500 and surgicaly removed (using sharp knife, not too
- deep, I hope) the tracer between the pads.
- 5. Reinstalled and verified all the stuff removed to install Agnus.
- 6. Powered up and poof! 1 meg (give or take a little) CHIP RAM. WOW!
-
- But...(You knew there was a but, didn't you)...something is wrong!
-
- Now the problem: my set-up boots to the DH0: drawer icon and from there I
- generally selest DirOpus (V3.29) and run most everything from there. So I boot
- up and go into DirOpus and try to use Degrader (V1.0 and V1.1) and when the
- system resets, POOF!....guru...8000 003. Sometimes 8000 004 but usually 8000
- 003 Address Error. Strange....worked perfect before Chubby Agnus.... So i run
- Viruschecker (V6.15?) and VirusX and BootX (no not at the same time) and part
- way through doing their thing, GURU....non recoverable, usually 8000 003
- again. Other progs started from DirOpus seem to work fine (CED, Powerpacker,
- LhA, QBTools and so on). One last observation....sometimes after the GURU and
- after the left mouse button reset, it system seems to boot normally but locks
- up either at the DH0: icon or after clicking on the DirOpus icon.
-
- So, what did I do wrong? What did I forget to do? Is it possible I have a
- flaky chubby Agnus? I have not (yet) tried to go back and uninstall the fat
- guy, but can do this if necessary. The systm obviously recognizes 1 meg CHIP
- so what else is there? What exactly does cutting the trace on J500 do?
-
- Any advice, help, sympathy, like experiences, etc, appreciated.
- I have wasted enough bandwidth so maybe E-mail is best and I can post a
- Summary if there is sufficent interest. Thanx in advance for any and all help.
