- Hi, I'm trying to connect my very first (finally) hard drive. I've got a GVP
- Series II+8 with 4 megs and a Quantum 105 ProDrive. I have no idea what all the
- jumper connections should be for this setup. I've figured the memory jumpers and
- that j4 is for selp boot.
-
- Problem: With this setup I've plugged the power from the board into the drive,
- and I've connected the data transfer wires from the drive to the card. (I'm
- pretty sure I've got the pin 1 of the board to pin 1 of the drive but any
- clarification is helpful). At this point when I power up the power light comes
- on for about a millisecond and goes off. Someone suggested that I may be
- overburdoning the power supply so it turns itself off.
-
- The power supply is currently running: 2-3.5 floppys,1-5.25 bridgeboard floppy,
- an 8088 bridgeboard, the GVP card and the 105 Quantum.
-
- Is this too much ?!?!
-
- I would suspect that the stock power supply could handle this.
-
- ANY suggestions would help
-
- btw if I unhook all the connections to the drive an change j4 I can use the
- memory on the card with no problem. It only occurs when I hook the power to the
- hd.
-
- Thanks in advance
