- That depends. If this activity only happens when a certain program is running,
- you could of course have serious suspicions about the program. You can
- eliminate OS programs, but make sure that nothing else could be causing this in
- software.

- This could be an indication of something wrong with your hardware. As with any
- such intermittent problem, the cause is often mechanical. Perhaps one of the
- socketed chips in your system has worked its way out of its socket a bit. Or
- maybe a pin's bent on one of the DRAMs on the Chip or Fast RAM bus, but its
- still making partial contact. Maybe an expansion board isn't firmly seated.
- These kinds of things get worse with time, as the contacts oxidize causing
- resistance between them to increase.
