  22. That depends.  If this activity only happens when a certain program is running,
  23. you could of course have serious suspicions about the program.  You can 
  24. eliminate OS programs, but make sure that nothing else could be causing this in
  25. software.

  27. This could be an indication of something wrong with your hardware.  As with any
  28. such intermittent problem, the cause is often mechanical.  Perhaps one of the 
  29. socketed chips in your system has worked its way out of its socket a bit.  Or
  30. maybe a pin's bent on one of the DRAMs on the Chip or Fast RAM bus, but its
  31. still making partial contact.  Maybe an expansion board isn't firmly seated.
  32. These kinds of things get worse with time, as the contacts oxidize causing
  33. resistance between them to increase.
