- Not exactly. The economics of the matter are a little more involved than
- this. Motorola may have enough chips rated at a certain speed already, so it
- is not unheard of to have parts which pass at higher clock tolerances be
- marked at a lower speed rating. However, it is never really known which chips
- are of this type, and which are not, making any form of overclocking dubious
- at best.
- In addition, Motorola is generally a bit more forgiving in its tolerance
- specs than other manufacturers, which tends to lead to the phenomenon of people
- trusting that almost all 680x0s can be overclocked. Unfortunatly, this often
- leads to anywhere from random problems with heat, to complete part failure in
- more extreme cases.
