  11. Attention all Fighter Duelers: Here is the first announcement of a really well
  12. made new device to connect Analog joysticks and rudder pedals to your Amiga.
  13. It has full and safe support for Fighter Duel Pro's new rudder control.

  15.         InterACTIVE Digital Devices To Begin Sales of
  16.                    the Amiga Smart Port (tm)

  18. Inter ACTIVE Digital Devices, Inc. (IDD) will release the Amiga Smart Port for
  19. sale beginning September 1, 1992.  The Amiga Smart Port is an auto switching
  20. game port interface for the Amiga. No plugging or unplugging of cables required
  21. to switch from mouse to joystick modes! Three ports are available for a mouse,  
  22. digital joystick, and a fully compatible dual joystick PC style game port.
  23. Simply press the button on the device to be used and the automatic electronic
  24. switching does the rest.

  34. OPERATING THE AMIGA SMART PORT
  35. The Amiga Smart Port was designed to be effortless to use.  In fact it was
  36. designed so that you would forget that it is there.  Inspired by the Amiga
  37. itself, the Amiga Smart Port is designed to activate the peripheral in question
  38. by simply pressing a button on that device, without having to disconnect and
  39. connect several devices.

  52. With a mouse, digital stick, and two PC style joysticks (using a Y connector),

  56.          DIGITAL JOYSTICK or PC JOYSTICK 1 on (MOUSE PORT 2)

  60. SPECIAL MOUSE MODE    
  61. A special mouse mode switch is incorporated to allow sveral peripherals to be 
  62. used simultaneously with the mouse.  When the special mouse mode feature is on,
  63. the following items can be used:

  65.     A two buton mouse (MOUSE PORT 1)
  66.     1 PC style analog channel for rudder pedals or throttle (MOUSE PORT 1)
  67.     1 PC style analog joystick (MOUSE PORT 2)

  69. With the switch in the "normal" mode, the Amiga Smart Port will support a three 
  70. button mouse and will turn off the single analog channel on MOUSE PORT 1.

  72. TRIM ADJUSTMENT FEATURES:
  73. Two sets of X and Y axes trim adjustments are provided to set the analog ports
  74. for maximum performance.  The package comes with the SmartPortCal software
  75. which allows the user to view all of the digital and analog system values,      
  76. making adjustments of the four analog channels a snap.

  78. SPECIAL PROTECTION:
  79. The Amiga Smart Port isolates the power supply from the potentiometer output
  80. with a solid state current limiting circuit.  This allows even a dead short
  81. to occur across the potentiometer output without damaging the computer
  82.  
  83. The Amiga Smart Port is compatible with all Amiga software currently supporting
  84. the analog joystick(s); that is those using the reversed IBM X/Y axis 
  85. configuration.
