- Summary: I get junk after prolonged connection with v.42bis

- Since Supra products are so prevalent among the Amiga crowd (and I'm
- part of it), I figured I ask this question here.
-
- I recently purchased a SupraModem 2400 Plus. It works generally well
- except for one annoying indeosycracy concerning v.42bis protocol.
-
- When a v.42bis connection (REL-LAPM-COMP) has been established, it
- works OK for anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours and then I start
- getting random character drop-outs and then the missing characters
- are re-inserted later in the data stream. The connection breaks
- shortly after this.
-
- The problem goes away if I turn off v.42bis compression (only v.42
- error correction) or force the modem to connect with MNP protocols
- (MNP 5 included).
-
- Has anyone experience something similar? should I suspect my modem,
- the host modem I've connected to or both? I really only have limited
- data on this problem as there are only 2 remote systems I've connected
- with that have v.42bis modems and one is long distance so I haven't been
- connected to it long enough to observe the above described behavior on
- it.
-
- Thanks.
