  21. I have four Hydra Ethernet boards which I can't use because their
  22. software doesn't work under 2.0.  The boards themselves DO work, as far
  23. as I can tell.

  25. Some early Hydra boards are said to have a bug in a PAL chip which affects
  26. autoconfiguration.  I haven't heard of other hardware problems.  I have
  27. one Hydra board installed in my A3025 and I haven't noticed any kind of
  28. slowdown at all.

  30. Hydra claims to be working on a new software version which contains
  31. password protection and other new features.  However, I have been calling
  32. and FAXing them for 8-9 months now and their software still isn't
  33. finished.  I have got two pre-release versions to try - well, I WAS
  34. able to transfer one file over the net before the server software
  35. locked up.  The current version causes plenty of Enforcer hits.  I told
  36. Hydra to use Enforcer for debugging (and their comment was like "Huh?
  37. What is that?").  Obviously, they still don't use it (and they are
  38. still doing all testing under 1.3).

  40. Even if Hydra is able to finish their new software, it's obvious that
  41. they haven't ever heard of SANA-II.  Hydra boards will still be their
  42. own isolated world with no connections to 'real' tcp/ip or similar
  43. protocols.

  45. I would like to know if there are other Hydra board owners in the netland.
  46. Maybe we could write our own driver for the board and then use Commodore's
  47. AS225 package with the Hydra boards?  It shouldn't be too difficult.  The
  48. design of the Hydra boards is quite simple and I've got all data about the
  49. Ethernet chips.

  56. P.S. I have heard about a software package named ENLAN, which works on the
  57.      Hydra boards.  I have asked for more information about ENLAN.  Hope it
  58.      turns out to be a good package!
