-
- I have four Hydra Ethernet boards which I can't use because their
- software doesn't work under 2.0. The boards themselves DO work, as far
- as I can tell.
-
- Some early Hydra boards are said to have a bug in a PAL chip which affects
- autoconfiguration. I haven't heard of other hardware problems. I have
- one Hydra board installed in my A3025 and I haven't noticed any kind of
- slowdown at all.
-
- Hydra claims to be working on a new software version which contains
- password protection and other new features. However, I have been calling
- and FAXing them for 8-9 months now and their software still isn't
- finished. I have got two pre-release versions to try - well, I WAS
- able to transfer one file over the net before the server software
- locked up. The current version causes plenty of Enforcer hits. I told
- Hydra to use Enforcer for debugging (and their comment was like "Huh?
- What is that?"). Obviously, they still don't use it (and they are
- still doing all testing under 1.3).
-
- Even if Hydra is able to finish their new software, it's obvious that
- they haven't ever heard of SANA-II. Hydra boards will still be their
- own isolated world with no connections to 'real' tcp/ip or similar
- protocols.
-
- I would like to know if there are other Hydra board owners in the netland.
- Maybe we could write our own driver for the board and then use Commodore's
- AS225 package with the Hydra boards? It shouldn't be too difficult. The
- design of the Hydra boards is quite simple and I've got all data about the
- Ethernet chips.
-
- Anyone? Please e-mail to me and we'll see what we can do.

-
- P.S. I have heard about a software package named ENLAN, which works on the
- Hydra boards. I have asked for more information about ENLAN. Hope it
- turns out to be a good package!
