- Eric, Hiya. People/Link suddently went out of business (with about
- 1 day's notice) at the end of May 1991. The next day I moved the
- Amiga Zone to The Portal Online System. Portal's a national/
- international commercial service, multi-user, running on a large
- network of Sun workstations, out of Cupertino, CA. Unlike Plink,
- which basically wasn't connected to nuthin, Portal is connected
- to virtually everything :) - with a membership you not only get
- the new improved Amiga Zone (now with over 800 Meg of files including
- the whole Fish Disk collection), live chats, message bases, etc.,
- but you get Usenet, free unlimited Internet email, and for a few
- extra bucks a month, a package that contains, amongst other things,
- FTP and IRC. The basic free is a very low flat-rate of $13.95/mo.
-
- You can reach Portal with your modem via SprintNet or Tymnet,
- same as you did on Plink. If you want a lot more info, email me
- and I'll send you back a longer blurb to read. If you want to
- join, phone 1-408-973-9111 (voice) or enter "c portal" at your
- local SprintNet node.
