- I am selling my 7300. It has the following features:
-
- * AT&T 7300 UNIX PC
- - Motorola 68010 processor
- - green monitor
- - keyboard
- - mouse (doesn't completely work - see below)
- - on board 1200 bps modem
- - parallel printer port
- - built-in serial port
- - EIA serial port card (two ports, for a total of three)
- - standard low-density floppy drive
- - 67 (80) Megabyte hard disk drive (Seagate ST4096)
- - 1 Megabyte total memory
- - 2 3B1 power supplies
- - 3B1 bump-top case
-
- * 7300 motherboard w/512k RAM. I don't know what version of
- the motherboard it is, but it doesn't have the annoying
- daughter card, anyway. The real time clock battery is dead.
- I usually keep the system running 24 hours a day, powering
- down only for thunderstorms and such, so it seemed less of a
- pain to re-set the time at each infrequent boot than to
- actually replace the battery.
-
- * The monitor had the infamous C411 capacitor go bad. This
- has been replaced, and the guy who replaced it also made
- some adjustments to the monitor. The picture looks great
- now, better than it ever looked before!
-
- * 512K memory expansion card.
-
- * Two port serial card.
-
- * The ST-4096 disk drive is mounted inside the case. I
- replaced the original 7300 power supply with a 3B1 power
- supply, and replaced the original slant case with the 3B1
- bump-top case so the drive would fit inside. However, the
- hard drive drew too much power (I got loads of HD ERR's in
- in the log file), so I have a second 3B1 power supply
- mounted externally in a makeshift box that feeds power in to
- the hard disk only. One of the two original internal fans
- has been moved out to this box also.
-
- * The ST4096 disk is 1024 cyls, 9 heads. As the system
- stands, it can only access 8 heads. About 8 Megs more of
- hard disk space could be gained by installing the P5.1
- modification (instructions available on the net) allowing
- access to the 9th head.
-
- * The mouse has stopped tracking vertically. For all I know,
- it could just be dirty as I hardly ever used the mouse with
- this system and thus didn't care much about making it work
- again.
-
- * The system runs fine as it stands. With 1 meg of memory,
- the system does swap occasionally with one user, but I don't
- find it unbearable. If the purchaser wishes to increase the
- memory size, there are two or three options (putting 2M on
- the motherboard, changing the 512K card to 2M; I think you
- could also populate the EIA card with 1.5M). I am running
- the 3.51m kernel with no problems.
-
- I am selling this system because I find that I just don't use it. I
- have left it unplugged since two or three thunderstorms ago. The
- system is here in the Minneapolis area; if you want to check it out
- (or have a friend check it out) give me a call.
-
- Asking price is $400 + shipping. If you think that's too high, let's
- talk about it. I can include the original slant case top if you want
- it. If you hurry, I'll even throw in an old 8 pin dot matrix printer
- (Legend 1080) and cable if you want it :-).
