- Folks - just got my mitts on a low cost GPS receiver which has a 1 PPS time output on
- it, plus a variable prop delay adjustment (for long nasty antenna cables and RS-232 SIO mange).
- Looking at it on the scope, it seems perfect for a shotgun marriage with xntp's PPS
- code. Plus it can output local or UTC time, GPS epoch time messages, etc etc. You
- can configure it to output time messages every n seconds or only upon polls.
-
- This gadget use 1.8W at 12VDC, includes a preamp-ed antenna and a development kit
- for apps (hmmmm...), DOS ctl program, RS-232 cables, the works. Since it's a development
- kit, don't expect a neat LCD display, it's a tiny black box (really) with only RS-232, 1 PPS
- outputs. It's a six channel L1 C/A code receiver, six correlators, in a 70mm x 100mm x 16.5mm
- board.
-
- For you GPS weenies (like me) it also is all set to output GPS pseudolite corrections
- to be used as a differential GPS master station. Can anyone say 1m position accuracy ?
- With regards to cost, it's way less expensive than any other GPS timecode receiver
- I've ever seen. I seem to remember forking over about a kilobuck for the full devel
- kit, I expect the cost to be way lower in production volume. Volume is just starting,
- so expect a short wait if you want to grab one - the wait is worth it.
