  14. We are about to subnet venerable research net DCnet (128.4), which
  15. means we have to move off that naughty 128.4.0 segment to more
  16. civilized 128.4.n (n>0) numbers. That means erstwhile time server
  17. rackety.udel.edu aka dcn1.udel.edu will move from 128.4.0.1 to
  18. 128.4.1.1 and churchy.udel.edu aka dcn5.udel.edu will move from
  19. 128.4.0.5 to 128.4.1.5. This will happen on Monday, 17 August.
  20. I apologize for the short notice, but we gotta do this quick.

  22. The critters that lived on 128.4.0.1 (now an IPC) are a storied
  23. lot reaching back a dozen years spanning the birth and death of
  24. several glorious research networks and related projects. I am
  25. reluctant to abandon "subnet" 0, which was long in use in DCnet
  26. before declared uncivilized. If the darn Proteon gateways were
  27. less paranoid, I wouldn't have to do this.
