- Hello there,
-
- We are having an irritating problem with a part of FTP Software's PC/TCP 2.05,
- InterDrive: it's s*l*o*w mounting of "network drives" on the server thru idmnt.
- Using drive Y: (for example) is ok (performance is what we expect it to be),
- but mounting it will take between 35 and 40 seconds !!!
-
- I don't think this is configuration of the networking software on the client
- PC, because actual use of the drive would be as intolerable as mounting it.
- At one point, I suspected an obscure option for idmnt could improve perfor-
- mance, but there are not performance-related options for it (as far as I can
- see).
-
- I have also tried mounting drives on machines of various speeds with same
- delays. This is leading me to believe that this is "normal" performance
- for NFS: am I right?
-
- Or is it that our NFS server is badly installed/configured?
-
- We are running the NFS server on a 386-33 with Interactive UNIX SVR3.2 .
-
- Please answer thru E-Mail; if this is of general interest, post answers
- to the net, too.
-
-
- Thanks in advance to all that will help us.
