  13. I read somewhere that one could use idmnt by FTP to mount directories
  14. of another PC running SOSS (Stan's Own Server) and wanted to try it.

  16. But idmnt attempts to transmit user and password and seems to expect 
  17. some appropriate response, which SOSS apparently does not deliver.

  19. SOSS's portmapper seems to register the request, but probably doesn't 
  20. do anything about it, while idmnt complains about the response from
  21. `authentication' server missing.

  23. Do I do something wrongly, is there any remedy or is it that it just
  24. can't work?
