- I have several questions I'm hoping I can find out the answers to between the
- two groups I've posted this to. For question 3 the machine in question is an
- HP 9000/710 running HP-UX 8.07, if that matters.
-
- 1) For what functions does telnet rely on OOB data? (i.e. what would happen if
- OOB data was "lost" into /dev/null -- both sides of the connection could
- send it but wouldn't ever know it never made it to the other side)
-
- 2) Same question for rlogin.
-
- 3) Can a send(2) call attempting to write OOB data be blocked, or does the
- call always complete immediately since it uses a different logical channel
- and blocking tends to defeat the purpose of OOB data in the first place?
-
- If anyone can answer one or more of these questions, please mail -- if others
- indicate interest in the answers I'll summarize the responses I get. Thanks!
