  12. I am currently running a SLIP link across a regular telephone line.
  13. The link is fairly dependable except once in a while a message saying

  15. "?recvd an ESCAPE followed by <some hex number> with ilen=<some number>"

  17. would pop up.  Most of the time things would get back to normal afterwards
  18. but there are occasions where similar messages would keep appearing and the
  19. link will be totally bogged down.  I am wondering if what this message
  20. means.  Does this indicate a noisy phone line or is it related to some
  21. known bugs?

  23. Other than this, I was told that turning on the UDP checksum would be a good
  24. idea when a SLIP link is run over a regular phone line without an 
  25. error correcting modem.  Do you think this might help fix the above
  26. problem?
