- We presently have informix (v2.10.03B) based applications running
- on 386's with Interactive Unix (5.3.2) which were originally
- accessed by RS-232 based vt100 compatible terminals (with
- "termcap" def'ns).
-
- We have replaced the dumb terminals with X-terminals (HDS FX-15's)
- and are now trying to drive the apps using "xterm". Since the apps
- are function key and escape key driven (ie. onkey() and interrupt),
- we seem to be having intermittent problems now that we're on a
- tcp/ip based network.
-
- The problem is that the apps don't seem to be able to consistently
- distiguish between the escape sequences and the escape key itself,
- which is causing incredible grief and misery.
-
- Is it a timing problem due to net load? How about the stty
- settings informix sets when running an app? Is it simply a change
- to the termcap definition? Or, do we have to re-write the way we
- drive our apps (read: we do not want to do this :-{ )
-
- Let me know what you guys think. Every bit of feedback is very
- deeply appreciated. Oh, don't post if possible (note the cross
- postings) but mail me directly at the address below with your
- responses.
-
- Cheers...Todd
