  17. I'm not sure I follow this. There was a bug, which was sensitive to DOS
  18. version and other configuration effects. (That's why it took a while to
  19. surface.) It was found and resolved shortly before PC-NFS 4.0 was due
  20. to go into beta, and we determined that it was not appropriate to push
  21. out another patch for what seemed to be a fairly obscure bug; instead
  22. we'd fold the fix into 4.0. This is standard practice; at some point we
  23. have to stop revving the old version of the product.

  25. PC-NFS customers who are on support contracts received 4.0 upgrades
  26. as part of their support. Others have to buy the upgrade.

  28. If anyone feels that our support policy is unreasonable, or is out of
  29. step with the industry, please email me. (Please include the keyword
  30. SUPPORT in the subject.) In particular, if you are running an old
  31. version of PC-NFS and have chosen not to upgrade because of pricing or
  32. other reasons, I'd be interested to hear why.

  41. News software that enforces a four-line .signature limit is responsible for
  42. the fact that these postings just go on and on and on and seem to end in mid-
  43.
