- OK, now that you've stopped laughing and you can read the posting...;)
-
- The folks at our business school have an amazing pure true blue shop that
- is running 16MB token ring all over their nice remodeled buildings. They
- were recently infiltrated by a number of new faculty and grad students who
- came bearing their own (*gasp*) Macs!
-
- Since they have token ring (not over UTP, unfortunately) running to all
- their offices in nice expensive faceplates on the wall, they want to run
- the Macs on TR.
-
- Their net consists of a building wide token ring, going thru an 8209,
- going to a proprietary 3com broadband bridge (yes, the campus is wired
- for a broadband spine with a 5mb/sec ethernet channel...she waits for
- the giggles to cease again...we *are* putting in fiber next year,
- honest...! ;).
-
- Here are the questions:
-
- What are folks experiences with various TR boards for Macs
- (mixed nubus and oldbus). Is there a scsi TR adapter
- for the Powerbooks?
- What are folks experiences with MacTCP running over
- tokentalk? or appletalk over tokentalk, for that
- matter?
- Does anyone know (the business school is asking IBM, but
- I feel more comfy asking here...;) if 8209s do
- anything perverse to appletalk packets? I'm
- hoping for experiences here, since I have learned
- how far to trust the specs on the 8209...
-
- Thanks in advance!
