  15. i have ARCHIEd and GOPHERed around and cannot find any documents on
  16. general printing.  i have been in search of documents that discuss
  17. experiences sites have had working through the myriad of printer
  18. access possibilities.

  20. in the last few years IBM mainframe computers have finally come to
  21. grips with the LPD/LPR considerations and have equipped us with the
  22. potential for connecting to other hosts/servers for print purposes.
  23. in light of the new capabilities we would like to explore the
  24. possibility of re-engineering our current printer scheme.  my main
  25. concern at this point is with the appletalk entities and how
  26. connectivity could be best addressed.

  28. ideally, i would like to find CAP like capabilities for both VM and
  29. MVS but i haven't heard of any successes in this area.  I would
  30. appreciate hearing from anyone who has had experience comparing any
  31. of the following as printer servers: Sun running TOPS, VAX running
  32. AlisaShare, whatever running CAP and Novell.  issues like capacities,
  33. performance, reliability and functions would be important
  34. considerations.
