- Billy,
-
- There are a variety of ways to get a VMS system onto the
- Internet. However, the exact method to be used depends upon the
- functionality and economics (size of your budget).
-
- At the most inexpensive end, the DECUS UUCP package permits you
- to set up a periodic connection to a "mail-exchanger", an
- internet node which will act as a mail drop for your facility.
- This arrangement is quite common. Several firms provide this
- functionality on a commercial basis (the fees are not too
- expensive).
-
- If you have a bigger budget and need more functionality/performance,
- you can license one of the TCP/IP packages and get a leased
- connection into one of the regional networks. While this gets you
- a lot of functionality, it also tends to cost a lot of cash.
-
- It is not clear from your post exactly what you would like to do.
- If you want to give me a call, I will be happy to spend a couple
- of minutes discussing the issues.
