- Thanks for the correction. The procedure I previously posted was correct
- for installing Motif on a VMS 5.4 to 5.4-2 system. I was at VMS 5.4-1 last
- September when I installed Motif. I wasn't told by DEC CSC at that time that
- these steps were not valid for all versions of VMS. I just confirmed your
- statement of not tailoring off the old DECwindows software. I was told that
- if Motif V1.0 is installed on VMS 5.4-3 or higher, that the Device Support and
- Font files would not be installed. Thus, don't tailor these items off.
-
- 1) Delete all X-resource files in your directory. The old resources files
- are not totally compatible with the Motif applications.
-
- 2) Increase Sysgen parameters and SYSUAF quotas according to the installation
- guide and release notes.
-
- 3) Run SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL to install the DECW-MOTIF V1.0 software.
-
- 4) Apply the following CSC patches.
-
- CSCPAT_208 FTDRIVER patch
- CSCPAT_287 DECwindows Motif 1.0A update
- CSCPAT_1035 DECwindows Server patch
-
- 5) Reboot the system.
-
- 6) Customize your new DECW Session Manager and the Motif Window Manager.
