- Less of the past tense, please ;-)
-
- Our VAXstation 3540 is running well and supporting a number of users
- as I speak. It has been running PEX (this years new product for many
- manufacturers) for a number of years, and can put the server process
- on one CPU, the structure store on another, and the application
- program on a third, displaying on its 24 bit double buffered Z
- buffered 19 inch monitor :)
-
- We have found no problems with the multiprocessor nature of it; it is
- transparent to the users.
-
- The case fits very neatly under the table, given a high enough table ;-)
-
- But... my new VAXstation 4000VLC, which fits in a pizza box, has twice
- the VUPS of one 3540 processor. Ah well. But the technology is there
- for using faster processors.

-
- It is worth it if you can just slot in more processors to your
- existing equipment, or transfer boards to a new case, rather than
- getting a whole new bunch of computers, however much one might want
- them...
