- We are in the process of creating a LAVC as part of our disaster
- recovery operations.
-
- We have several applications running on a VAX 4500. One of these
- applications occupies two locally shadowed disks on the 4500. This
- application needs to be available in minutes.
-
- To facilitate this recovery, we are adding a 3400 (which is in a
- different building) with two disks that will be remote shadowed from
- the 4500 using VMS volume shadowing level II under VMS 5.5-1. The
- 4500 and the 3400 will be configured in a LAVC with each system
- having its own system disk. We expect that this will allow us to
- restart the application on the 3400 if the 4500 fails.
-
- I understand that DEC has a concept of "MDF" - this is the first
- stage of eventual migration to a full MDF-like configuration.
-
- Does anyone have any experience and/or knowledge of this type of
- configuration, including MDF that they could share?
-
- Thanks,
- Chad Wilson
