- [I sent a version of this message yesterday, with no replies yet. Now
- I have more details about the problem.]
- I recently wanted to add TCP/IP version 1.2.1 to my OS/2 2.0 system
- (Gateway 2000 486DX2/50, 8 MB, SMC = WD Ethercard Plus Elite 16 network
- card). The installation and configuration seemed to go smoothly, but
- on rebooting I got a series of messages from the device drivers loaded
- in CONFIG.SYS and then a blank screen and c000005 in the upper left corner.
- I know the machine, OS/2, and card work OK because I have been running
- PC-NFS in a VDM to access the network.
-
- After REMming out all the added DEVICE= and RUN= lines in CONFIG.SYS
- and then reactivating them one at a time, I localized the problem to
- the very first one:
- DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\PROTMAN.OS2 /I:C:\IBMCOM
- When this line is active I get the c000005. Has anybody seen anything
- like this? What should I check for? I've poked around but find
- nothing obviously wrong, e.g., in the entries in the PROTOCOL.INI file.
-
- Thanks in advance -- Eliot Smith
