- I had the same problem with my modem configured on either com3 or com4.
- The short answer is that you can't currently share the IRQ for com3 or com4
- with anything else. Apparently when you switch from or to a full screen,
- OS/2 believes that com1 or com2 is owning the port instead of com3 or com4.
- There are NO parameters for DOS or OS/2 which seem to override this, I tried
- them all.
-
- I have a mouse on com1 and had an external modem on com2 and an internal
- modem on com3. I solved the problem finally by moving the internal modem
- to IRQ 5 I believe which is the LPT2 interrupt (Since I don't have an LPT2).
-
- You also mentioned that com4 is of course com2 to OS/2 programs. This
- doesn't have to be the case. You should get the latest comm drivers from
- your favorite OS/2 source (or hobbes.nmsu.edu) and set the parameters to
- comm.sys to identify your com3 or com4 address and IRQ.
