  19. This is normal.  The first instance (Process ID 1, I think) is the PM
  20. shell that provides the building blocks for GUI-based programs.  The
  21. second instance (Process ID 3, I think) is the WPS, which provides
  22. your nice shell.  If you look in CONFIG.SYS, you'll notice that
  23. PMSHELL.EXE is run twice - once in the PROTSHELL= line, and once in
  24. the RUNWORKPPLACE= line.

  29. Don't kill them.  You can't kill PM, and killing the WPS just makes it
  30. recycle and come up again.
