- Don't get too worked up about this one, but I am "running" OS2 with only
- 4MB RAM, until my new computer comes in with 8MB. I was too anxious to try
- out OS2 to just let it sit in its box, while I wait for my computer.
- So I think my problem is a result of not having enough memory, but I will
- ask anyway.
- When I use Windoze programs (Word2.0) under Program Manager, they work fine
- (as fine as OS2 could run with only 4MB). And when I use WIN-OS2, everything
- works fine. But here's my problem...
- When I EXIT from WIN-OS2, rather than going back the the Presentation
- Manager, the system locks up. I am able to minimize WIN-OS2, and get back to
- PM, but I cannot exit from WIN-OS2 without locking the system, and rebooting
- the computer.
- OOPS! Above, I wrote "Program Manager." I meant to write, When I use
- Windoze programs under PRESENTATION MANAGER... (Actually, they work fine
- with Program Manager too...).
- Will running with 8MB fix this? I am getting used to the SLOWness of OS2
- with insufficient RAM, but it shouldn't lock the system, should it?
-
- One more thing... If anybody has any visions of trying to run OS2 with 4MB,
- FORGET IT! I am doing it now, just to see what it looks like.
- I probably took a few years off of my hard drive's life, with all that
- disk thrashing. I would bet that 6MB wouldn't even be enough.
- I can't wait for more memory!
-
- Thanks,
- Peter
