- S. Well, I load up Telix or Telemate in a DOS window and try to download
- S. something through my modem and I get a ton of errors.
- S. Effective throughput drops to 200cps (should be about 1600cps for v32bis)
- S. I reboot DOS and finish the file transfer at 1600cps under "wimpy" DOS 5.0.
- S.
- S. Am I doing something wrong???
- S.
- S. BTW... my hardware is as follows:
- S. 486/33, 64k cache, 8meg RAM, 213 Meg HD, ZyXEL EXTERNAL 32bis modem
- S. connected on com2.
-
- Steve, I am currently running Telemate v3.10 with a ZyXEL internal with
- DL's (in the background) of 1630 cps. Several suggestions:
-
- - get the COM2210 update from the IBM NSC BBS (or CompuServe or Watson
- FTP); it may also be called COMGA3. This has some very important
- fixes which may help.
-
- - Assuming that your comm port has an NS16550AFN (get one if it doesn't)
- you should tell Telemate that you do not have one <g>... OS/2 will
- manage the 16550, if you have one (once again assuming that you have
- COM2210 or later).
-
- - Lock the port within Telemate at 38.4K and MAKE SURE that you set the
- DOS SETTINGS to hold the port.
-
- - You may want to use the settings recommended in the file DOSGAMES to
- lock Telemate in at the highest possible priority. It is overkill and
- slows down other processes, but it is solid as a rock.
