- I have similar problems. I just upgraded to 24MB (8x 1MB 9 chip 80ns SIMMS
- and 4x 4MB 9 chip 70ns SIMMS - just to bring up an old thread :-). I
- downloaded GT16MB2 and installed it. I have the 'shrinking' kernel. I
- have a program called SYSINFO which used to tell me I had 512K free.
- When I went to 24MB it went up to 5MB free and with the GT16MB2 loader
- it says 15MB free and my swap file doesn't seem to grow above 4 meg
- EVER.
-
- THIS IS GREAT! EXCELLENT! What could be better? Well, a little speed I
- suppose. Things are definitely faster, much less swapping (eg on a big
- find) BUT _CLOSING_ certain windows takes a while. Some windows
- disappear instantly, but my folder windows pause for about a second or
- two before closing. This never happened before GT16MB2 (I don't think. I
- have also changed drives and 'upgraded' from an 8900C to an ET4000 over
- the last few days - but the speed lag seems to be from GT16MB2)
-
-
-
- Have I missed something? Is there something I can do to fix this?
-
- Also, what is the best program around for getting stats on memory usage.
- Sort of a MEM for OS/2 or even better, something like MANIFEST (I live &
- dream in hope).
