- You may not want to use them, but I also want OS/2 3.0 to have these features.
- Hopefully IBM will use the Mach kernel, and add some real security features.
- I live in a dorm, and other people use my machine...including my brother.
- The fact is, even you could make a mistake, and mess up the system while trying
- to do something else. By the way, where I work, at the Barnard College Library
- , we even add "supervisor mode" to Macs running system 6! A utility called
- "Guard Dog" prevents systemwide modifications without a password. Don't tell
- me that this is asking for UNIX! In my opinion, OS/2 almost matches UNIX in
- many ways, already! I am very happy to be running emacs and gcc under OS/2.
- I am running OS/2 because it multitasks my DOS and Windows programs, as well
- as multithreaded OS/2 programs. Which UNIX version were you suggesting that
- I buy? Which one costs $99 from DOS? I have a 386/40, and I believe UNIX is
- more limiting than OS/2 2.0, for my system. By the way, what do you have
- against adding features to OS/2? I really think that this would expand its
- market, and IBM would reap the benefits.
-
- :-), and let me know when you find a UNIX that is better than OS/2!
- I know a lot of people who will be interested.
-
- Thanks.
