- Okay, I have reason to suspect that I need to run a chkdsk on my C:
- partition (HPFS for OS/2, 47M). How exactly do I go about this? What I
- tried so far:
- Booted OS/2 from the Install and Disk 1 floppies
- Attempted to run c:chkdsk c: /f:3 from the A: drive
- this didn't do much besides tell me that the HPFS file system was
- started, so I switched over to the C: drive and tried to run chkdsk from
- there. No joy. Got a disk is in use error message. So now what? (BTW, I
- have 1.2M 5.25" drive as drive A:)
-
- I think I need to run chkdsk for several reasons:
- 1) The other day my System folder was showing 2 copies of the Command
- Prompts folder (this in addition to the shadow version that's on the
- desktop). I attempted to determine which one was bogus. I was
- unsuccessful and when I through one in the trash can (shredder), all
- three went down in flames!
- 2) After having successfully installed the new kernal, my swapper.dat
- file was shrinking back down to 4M as it should. However, lately
- (especially after running DeScribe 3.0?) it has been getting stuck at 5,
- 6 or 7M and won't shrink back unless I do a shutdown and reload OS/2.
