- Hello,
-
- this is a plea for help.
-
- I'm running a 386/40 clone with 8 MB RAM, 100 MB IDE drive and a Trident 9000
- videao card w. 512 kB.
-
- I installed a new os/2 out of the box (no patches applied so far). The
- system ran under DOS/Windows before without problems.
- I have tried to install the 800x600 Trident drivers from hobbes, those files
- whose readme have been commented by T.Sipples.
-
- Now when I boot up system crashes with a black screen. I installed
- the normal driver, not that virtual desktop beast. I tried it with both -
- the 16 and 256 colors driver. Both behave the same.
-
- BTW - the documentation claims 800x600x256 would need a Trident 8900 w. 1 MB.
- But I had running that resolution before under windows - where is the
- difference ?
-
- Thanks in advance for any help...
-
- Regards
-
- Christoph Weber-Fahr
-
- BTW - Have I always to completely reinstall OS/2 in such a case ? the
- c:\ HPFS is not accessible from the command prompt now.. I used the method
- described in the faq-list
