  12. this is a plea for help.

  14. I'm running a 386/40 clone with 8 MB RAM, 100 MB IDE drive and a Trident 9000
  15. videao card w. 512 kB.
  16.  
  17. I installed a new os/2 out of the box (no patches applied so far). The 
  18. system ran under DOS/Windows before without problems.
  19. I have tried to install the 800x600 Trident drivers from hobbes, those files
  20. whose readme have been commented by T.Sipples.

  22. Now when I boot up system crashes with a black screen. I installed 
  23. the normal driver, not that virtual desktop beast. I tried it with both -
  24. the 16 and 256 colors driver. Both behave the same.

  26. BTW - the documentation claims 800x600x256 would need a Trident 8900 w. 1 MB.
  27. But I had running that resolution before under windows - where is the 
  28. difference ?

  36. BTW - Have I always to completely reinstall OS/2 in such a case ? the
  37. c:\ HPFS is not accessible from the command prompt now.. I used the method
  38. described in the faq-list
