-
- Doug Lamb,
-
- Here is why that fellow said that you made such an idiotic post:
-
- IBM has refused to license the Windows NT kernal. At least according
- to both PC Week and Info World. It was part of the new software licensing
- agreement between IBM an and Microsoft. They no longer license the product.
- They have no rights to incorporate the code into their products.
- They didn't want it. The only right IBM has to it is to resell it as
- another vendor. Please, when you make such emphatic statements on the net,
- make sure that you are correct before you do it.
-
- The other parts of the IBM microsoft agreement include a 20 million dollar
- payment by MS to IBM for rights to use some software patents, and the right
- to share code for regular windows, OS/2 and dos until september '93.
- At the end of this time, niether IBM or microsoft will be able to incorporate
- any new feature from those operating systems (not NT) into new products.
- They also worked out an agreement as to the amount of royalties to be
- paid to microsoft for each copy of OS/2 2.0 sold.
-
- IBM has said that they are considering using the Mach Kernal for a portable
- OS/2 2.0.
