- I've found a fairly reproducible way to hang the Desktop. Put
- "Alarms", "Pulse", and "System Clock" shadows into your startup
- folder. This will cause, at startup, the Desktop to open but no icons
- to appear. Press [ctrl]-[esc]. The message will appear, "The
- application OS/2 Desktop is not responding to system requests." Okay,
- press [enter] to end it. It goes away, then re-opens, this time
- successfully but without starting any of the startup folder apps.
- Anyone know why I can't start with these applications?
-
- Second, why can't I tell Alarms to start minimized? It seems that the
- only "Start Minimized" option is for Command-Shell windows, since
- Alarm's setting's [Session] page is all grayed out. Ideas?
-
- Also, what is 'eyecon'? The .zoo comes with no documentation, but
- I do know that once you run the executable nothing visible happens,
- but it keeps running. Forever. Until I shutdown and restart holding
- down the "don't restart apps" key combination. I was hoping it was
- the same as the SunView eyecon: a pair of eyes to follow the cursor.
-
- Finally, has anyone tried using a Windows program such as 'curse'
- under OS/2? If you haven't used it, 'curse' changes your system
- default and busy cursors to what you've set, and can even, if you mark
- multiple icons, will change your cursor dynamically. If you don't do
- the latter, you can exit the program once it runs. How will this
- manage under the Desktop? I'm nervous about trying it myself, only
- because I just finished re-install number 3, and would like to keep it
- at just 3.
-
- Thanks very much,
- Michael
