  11. I know that this has probably been beaten to death in this newgroup,
  12. but at the time I didn't think I needed a new drive 8-(.

  14. I have a Zenith 386/25 ISA bus computer with 4Mb ram (soon to be 20Mb!!), and
  15. am looking to get a new hard drive.  I talked to the guy in computer
  16. support today, and if I tell them what I want, they will get a price
  17. and order it for me, if I give them a job order number with enough money.

  19. He tried to talk me into getting an IDE drive, they already have the
  20. controllers in stock.  It is my understanding that IDE drives can not
  21. be low level formatted, and I don't want one for that reason.  Please
  22. correct me if that is wrong, or do newer drives come with software to
  23. do a low level format, without screwing up the drive?

  25. As far as getting a SCSI drive and Controller goes, I have seen enough
  26. recommendations in this group, that I have decided to get an Adaptec
  27. 1542B controller.  I am looking for a Hard drive in the 200 - 300Mb
  28. range, any recommendations.  Also is the controller capable of using
  29. a tape drive to back up the hard drive, and if so can anyone suggest
  30. a tape drive to get, SCSI or not?

  35. I read this newsgroup, but because of the large number of articles every
  36. day, I hit the 'n' and 'k' keys pretty quick, so I might miss posted

  41. Waiting for more memory, and new Drive to install OS/2, I got it yesterday,
  42. Airborne couldn't find my house for 2 days, maybe IBM should ship UPS
  43. 2nd day air, I know UPS can find my house!
