- I Installed 2.0 last night. Before doing so I read
- a trillion TNT/FAQ things from hobbes, to know what not to do.
-
- After I installed my 1024x768 windows drivers (as per FAQ), I knew I
- had to go to a DOS full screen to do the SVGA ON shit. OK. So I
- shut down, come back up and all I have is garbage. Mega Garbage. I have
- never seen a monitor so out of sych, hissing & snapping etc.
-
- Fortunatly I had droped a full screen dos shadow in the upper right corner, so
- I just moved the mouse as far as possible & clicked. Now I have a (normal)
- DOS full screen. SVGA OFF! A blind shut down. Come back up. Everything fine.
- So I go to WIN-OS/2, fully expecting it not to work. It works. But then, maybe
- the refreshing of WPS & mode swithching could happen. After 2 hours & trying
- everything I shouldn't be doing (SVGA in DOS windows, etc), everything is OK.
-
- What gives? by the way...GW2000 386sx-20, paradise/WD video on motherboard
- (I wonder if it's 16 or 8 bit?) 12 megs. I was impressed with the speed.
- Some folders were slow, but overall, and especially apps, very responsive.
-
- Also, I know there are no 2.0 paradise dirvers. What about 1.3? I have a
- 1.2, but I haven't tried it, for fear that it won't work (then what?)
-
- Also, I have dual boot installed. Now I wanna kill it cause I don't need it.
- How do I do this (short of reinstall (egads!))? (Actually the installation
- was very easy... but then, I have no CD-ROM, network, etc....)
-
- Actually more first impresions... WPS pretty neat, but too cluttered in VGA
- (which is why I want 1024 drivers). Applets from hell!!! Useless, Ugly, Awkward
- WHY IBM? WHY? They were gone pretty quick.
-
- And a final question.... Are the on -line docs uploaded anywhere? Is IBM
- intent on not letting this happen? Please tell me they're somewhere. I hate
- to know that a couple of megs of HD are being wasted on something best
- read while on the stool, or for bed time reading......
