- I recently purchased a new computer (486DX/33) and eagerly installed my OS/2
- software (using HPFS and boot manager). I created an Icon for my Borland
- C++ (which was installed on my DOS partition) and began working with it.
- I've noticed that it compiles programs hideously slow on my machine.
- I am comparing this to a machine at work (running OS/2 dual boot--FAT)
- which is only a 386/25. The 386 running BC performs about the same as
- when run under DOS.
-
- Other notes. On the 386 at work, I had to increase the DPMI memory limit
- to 4 and enable the DMPI_API for BC to work. On the 486, it loaded up with the
- default settings; changing then on the 486 did not do anything. The curious
- thing about this problem is that on the 486, when BC is compiling and loading
- lots of system header files, it seems very fast; but, when it starts compiling
- the source files loaded in the editor, THAT's when it is terribly SLOW.
-
- If anyone out there can help me with this problem I'd greatly appreciate it.
-
- Thanks in advance
