  12. Out of curiority, I downloaded the bga?bmp.zip files from
  13. software.watson.ibm.com to see if anything would make a decent background for
  14. my 1024x768x256 screen. They look really awful, like some sort of bad
  15. impressionist art (not that impressionism is intrinsically bad ...). At 3/4
  16. Meg apiece, I would expect something photographic in quality. What's the deal?

  18. It occurs to me that these might only be 16-color images, but they are not
  19. even decent 16-color dithers. If you've ever looked at lighthou.vga in your
  20. os2\bitmap directory, it's the same effect ...
