  13. I am going to be installing a network version of Windows 3.1 onto a
  14. Microsoft LANManager 2.1 network.  In the windows resourse kit, it says
  15. that all you must do is the following:

  17. 1.  Logon as administator to the LAN and create the directory for the
  18. Windows share files to reside.  
  19. 2.  Type a:setup/a to copy the windows share files over to the server.
  20.  
  21.  
  22. For each workstation connected to the LAN:
  23. 1.  Logon as user to the LAN.
  24. 2.  Run setup/n from either the install disks or from the network drive
  25. containing the windows share files.  
  26. 3.  Specify where your personal files are to be stored.  On the network
  27. drive for a diskless workstation, or on the workstation's local drive.

  29. This seems to be easy to do...  Has anyone done a similar operation?  If
  30. so, how much time will it take to do the server install and for each
  31. workstation (shared files on server and personal files on workstation)?
  32. Are there any problems to watch for?

  34. Another concern I have is regarding the performace of a windows
  35. workstation having the shared files on the server and the personal files
  36. on the workstation disk with the network only running at 4 Mbit/s.  I
  37. Is is to slow?
