Help! I have a 386 machine with a Trident 8800CS VGA display board so I decided to download the Trident drivers for Windows. I am connected to a Novell net with WD ethernet card if that makes any difference.
Ok, the symptoms.. I go through Windows setup and select "other" as the display adaptor. When it asks for a location for the display drivers, I give it the place where I 'unzipped' my drivers. It seems to work ok and sets up with the Trident driver. I am trying the 1024x728 16 colour driver and my display card has 512k DRAM on board.
When I get to running Windows itself, it gives me the intro. screen (which I assume uses standard VGA mode) and then just hangs there without going any further. If I try typing WIN : instead of WIN, it just hangs with a blank screen.
What am I doing wrong? I do not have the manual that goes along with my particular display board.. Is there some DIP switch setting I have to mess with?
Any help would be appreciated!
