- We are in the midst of setting up Win 3.1 on a Novell 2.15c public network.
- By using setup /a to make a Windows directory, setup /n to set up individual
- configurations for individual Windows apps (we need to do licensing control,
- so we do it this way and run each app by launching "win {appname}" from
- a menu system, and requiring an exit from Windows to go to another app - we
- do NOT want Windows as the default "OS" on the LAN), and doing a little
- tweaking here and there, we have fairly good results, except for one thing:
-
- On exiting from Standard mode, we get a DOS prompt back in about 2.5 seconds.
- On exiting from 386 Enhanced, it takes in excess of 30 seconds of blanked
- display before we see another menu.
-
- Server: PS/2 M70, 4M, 120M internal/320M external disks, ANW2.15c, ethernet_ii
-
- Clients: PS/2 M70, 6M, 60M or 80M disk, 3Com 3C523 or Cabletron E-3020 ethernet
- card, Microsoft Mouse; IBM DOS5.0, QEMM6.02, Crynwr packet drivers/
- packet driver ipx/NET5; IBM Proprinter II or HP LaserJet Series II
- local to each machine
-
- Config: No SMARTDRV, 10M temporary swapfile
-
- Has anyone seen this problem? Any clue as to what causes it?
-
- Thanks in advance,
